Melbourne Tigers Release.

It is with great excitement that we announce the signing of Rebecca Cole to our Melbourne Tigers SEABL Women for season 2018.

Rebecca joins Tigerland fresh off an edge-of-your-seat WNBL Grand Finals series for the Melbourne Boomers last month.

She was a key contributor for the Boomers this season, having the versatility to play a number of roles and doing whatever it took to help the team win.

A highlight of the past season was her incredible performance in Game 1 of the Semi Final series against minor premiers, the Perth Lynx where Rebecca was unstoppable in putting up 21 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals in just 26 minutes.

With the grounding of a stellar junior career in Victoria and at the Australian Institute of Sport, Rebecca’s emergence as one of the most talented guards nationally has her tenacity, elite fitness, gritty competitiveness and attacking mindset offensively as cornerstones of who she is.

It’s these qualities that make her a perfect fit for the type of culture and environment Head Coach Mark Alabakov is growing within this year’s team.

‘The legacy of the Melbourne Tigers is important to me and when considering that Bec is the perfect addition to our team, both on and off the court. Her work ethic and drive are second to none, she is a first-class human being and in her career she’s demonstrated the resilience of handling challenges with an empowered mindset and I really admire that about her. She’s the perfect blend of passion for the game, competitiveness and versatility that complements the group.’

‘We’re looking forward to seeing the best of Bec Cole on show in Tigers colors and I highly encourage our junior Tigers athletes to come and watch her prepare and play – we’ve been lucky enough to have had some great examples of professionalism with Monique Conti and Louella Tomlinson and co, and we’ve just added another quality role model to the ranks for our athletes to learn from and our supporters to be proud of”.

You can watch Rebecca and all your favourite Melbourne Tigers in SEABL action this season, beginning with our Home Opener on April 8 at 1pm at Oakleigh Recreation Centre. Our SEABL Women’s season fixture can be found here –> http://bit.ly/2EDTfAe
