Tallying a league-high for the season with 43 points, Craig Moller has earned the Round 8 Player of the Week award after leading the Hobart Chargers to an important top-four victory against his old club, Ballarat Miners.
Moller, who was recently named to compete in the NBL All-Australian team on their tour of China next month, recorded a monster double-double with 43 points, 15 rebounds, two assists and a steal as they prevailed 95-86.
Following the win, the Chargers now sit fourth on the ladder and have won four of their past five games as one of the in-form teams of the competition.
Moller has been a major reason for that, joining the team from Ballarat last season, and he showed his old club just what they have been missing on Saturday night.
The Miners jumped out to an eight-point lead late in the first period but Moller scored five of Hobart’s last eight points for the term to trim the deficit to four at quarter-time.
He carried that form into the second quarter with another 14 points and was well on his way to a double-double with a total of eight rebounds but the home side still found themselves trailing at the main break.
A threat from all over the court, Moller drained his third three-pointer in the third quarter and also knocked down three free-throws as Ballarat tried everything in their power to slow him down.
He still scored 12 more points in the term though and when he connected on a three-point play at the start of the fourth, the Chargers had drawn level with nine minutes to play.
From there, Hobart went on a devastating 22-10 run to finish the game and win comfortably.
Moller helped clinch the game with six straight points for the Chargers in just over two minutes, also recording a steal off Marvin King-Davis which he took the length of the floor for an and-one play.
The forward now sits seventh in the league with 21.6 points per game, first for rebounds with 13.6, first for total defensive rebounds, second for total offensive rebounds and first for free-throws made with 70 which is ten more than any other player.
Craig Moller Round 8 Stats: 43 points on 13-22 (59%) shooting including 13-14 free-throw shooting, 15 rebounds (four offensive), two assists and a steal.
