Carley Mijovic of the Frankston Blues is the women’s Player of the Week for Round 3.

Frankston have bounced back from two straight losses to start the season, putting together a win streak after defeating Nunawading on Saturday night and Carley Mijovic has been a major part of those victories.

In Round 3, she tallied a season high for the women with 36 points to go with 11 rebounds, four assists, a steal and a block as the Blues defeated the Spectres, 78-61.

Her ability to stretch the floor with her deadly three-point shot is a real asset to Frankston this season and with the green light from coach Michael Brookens, Mijovic drained 7-13 from beyond the arc compared to Nunawading’s 5-23 as a team.

She started the game ominously, scoring six of Frankston’s first ten points and by quarter-time, she had tallied 14 points with three three-pointers already.

Mijovic could not quite keep that form going into the second period, adding only four points but three assists kept her involved in the game as the Blues opened a six-point advantage at the main break.

The Spectres were up for the fight, keeping the margin to six points at three-quarter time but Mijovic ensured there would be no comeback, recording ten points in the final term to clinch the contest.

She also pulled down four boards to secure a double-double and added a rejection on Saraid Taylor for good measure.

Mijovic now sits second in the league for points (24.3 per game) and third for rebounds (10.5) and is one of just five players to be averaging a double-double.

Carley Mijovic Round 3 Stats: 36 points on 13-28 shooting (46%) including 7-13 from three-point range, 11 rebounds (three offensive), four assists, one steal and a block.
