Former Queens University of Charlotte men’s basketball standout Daniel Camps has signed to soar with the Eagles in 2018.

Completing his senior season at Queens, Camps started in 23 games averaging a team high 14.3 points per game whilst also averaging 6.8 rebounds per game.

His consistent performance earned him an Honourable Mention in the selection of the All-South Atlantic Conference.

He was later named the Most Valuable Player of the SAC postseason tournament following a career-high 29-point performance in the conference title game against Lincoln Memorial University.

“Daniel is extremely well regarded on and off the floor,” said coach Grant Wallace.

“He is a tremendous athlete and a freight train with the ball in the open floor. He plays at an extremely high level of intensity, and a toughness that will be contagious. I am sure he will excite Eagle fans.

“We will have shooters all around him in 2018 which will make him an impossible assignment for one defender to contain and will allow us an exciting brand of basketball to play.

“He also is a wonderful person off the floor and will best help us promote the game in the Northern Region.”

Daniel began his professional career this October for Verve Club in the MABA Pro-League situated in Malaysia.

In his first season for the club he averaged 18 points per game, 10 rebounds per game, three assists per game and three steals per game during the season.

With his team qualifying for the playoffs he was able to raise his game to another level, averaging 25 points per game and 9 rebounds per game over the final series.

“I am looking forward to connecting with all the fans and can’t wait to help bring wins and excitement to Diamond Valley,” said Camps.

“Coach Wallace has spoken highly of the community and it’s an honour to be joining the Eagles especially during this transition into the SEABL competition.”
