Dandenong Basketball is excited to announce that Opals star Tess Madgen will make her return to basketball with our SEABL Rangers program, joining our Rangers Women for the 2018 SEABL season.

Having torn her ACL in March playing with Polish League’s AZS UNCS Lublin, Tess is on track to resume full contact training in early 2018 and plans to be ready for Round 1 of the SEABL season with our Rangers Women.

Tess told Dandenong Basketball that she’s thrilled to be getting back on the court after so much time off, joining a SEABL Rangers program that has set the bar for the rest of the league for the past decade.

“The Rangers have a strong tradition of success and I’m excited to be a part of that for SEABL 2018”, said Madgen. “(Rangers coach) John White obviously has strong experience in coaching with the WNBL Rangers and I am looking forward to working with him and the girls to take my game to the next level post-injury.”

Perhaps the only person more excited about Tess’ return to the court is Rangers Head Coach John White, who is elated to be bringing in the Opals & WNBA star to his SEABL Women’s squad.

John told Dandenong Basketball that he can’t wait to start working with Tess to build something big for the 2018 SEABL season, stating that her leadership and poise will help not only his team’s success but the development of some of our younger Rangers stars.

“It’s not often as a coach you get an opportunity to coach someone with the character and ability of Tess, we all know what she will bring to our program both on & off the floor”, said White. “I know the group that we’ve already started assembling will help provide Tess with the competitive environment & platform she needs to relaunch herself into basketball.”

“Her fast paced, aggressive style of play will really suit our group and her leadership off-the-court will assist our younger stars develop their games as they begin to forge their careers. I personally can’t wait to see her back on the floor, especially in Rangers colours.”

The 2018 SEABL Rangers season will kick off in April, with both our Rangers Men & Women readying up for big finals campaigns. For all SEABL Rangers updates stay tuned to
